Map Center has a brand new texture challenge launching this October 20th. This will be the 6th stage texture challenge, which will be handled by Paul Jaquays (Ensemble Studios). It will focus on the concept of sun-washed streets in a small town near the Mediterranean Sea. Here are some more details from Map Center:
The end goal of the Mediterranean Challenge is to make at least one complete texture suite that greatly reminds the viewer of the surfaces found in the popular Counterstrike map Italy. But that’s not necessarily the only artistic option. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to make a texture suite with a similar feel work with Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, or Soldier of Fortune 2. Stretch a little more and it’s a holo-deck adventure for Star Trek: Elite Forces. Stretch even more and it could become part of a Jedi Knight 2 world. And of course, nothing says the textures can’t find their way into maps for non-Q3A engine games.
