I’m not the only one that has specific taste when it comes to games, genres, and mechanics. Here’s what I’m attracted to the most.
- I’ll play anything that’s a RTS or FPS
- MMO’s with shooter mechanics. Example: Star Wars Galaxies caught my attention because I had a gun.
- Animal companions. Example: Games that allow a type of creature handler is something I also gravitate to. I was a creature handler in Star Wars Galaxies and a Hunter in World of Warcraft.
- Multiplayer and co-op game modes for most games.
- Single player with shooter mechanics. Portal 2’s singleplayer was amazing!
- Exploring the environment. Examples: Guild Wars, Skyrim, World of Warcraft had me hooked.
- Harvesting items to craft. Examples: Everquest 2, Skyrim, World of Warcraft
Games/Genres I don’t enjoy:
- Turn-based role playing games. Final Fantasy was often something I didn’t enjoy playing.
- Turn-based real time strategy games, with the exception the latest Civilization games.
- The Sims. There’s something about this franchise that feels like it’s a waste of time. I loved There.com, a former virtual chat service that had the same art style, too.
