BeatDown 2000

GameSpy’s series of brutalizing LAN parties continues with … BEATDOWN 20. The Post-Apocalyptic Bunker BeatDown. Here are some more details from Fargo:

“The “BeatDown” is GameSpy’s version of a LAN party, as featured in the LA Times and elsewhere. Huge. Forget the tomb-like atmosphere of professional tournaments, this thing is all about NOISE. 250 attendees, live DJs, food, movies, carnage, hell. We’ll be playing Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Tribes, Age of Kings, Rogue Spear, Soul Calibur, and whatever else anyone wants to party with.”

“In the past we’ve had developers from Monolith, Activision, Pandemic, Valve, and Epic all show up to lay down some smack and sometimes show off new stuff. We’ve also had midgets, vikings and giant leprechans. Occasionally we even get around to playing video games. (Tournaments, prizes and stuff. The usual. ;)”
